One of the thieves told the police on the phone, the emergency elevator phone, This sounds really dumb, but I'm afraid that we wanted to break in and the elevator has gotten stuck.
After arriving, the police found the two (almost) thieves, ages 31 and 37, stuck in the elevator of an office building.
Theses two men broke into the building and were attempting to reach a higher floor when the elevator stopped, said police officers.
Since they were stuck, the two trapped men decided to phone for help when one of them injured his hand attempting to pry the door open.
After arriving and freeing the men, the fire department freed the two and eventually they were arrested.
Should've taken the escalator!
