Location-Based Applications

For an individual, a location-based application allows that person to search and instantly find what he/she may be looking for. Many use these applications in order to find cheaper fuel, certain restaurants, as well as directions to a new location.

The negative to an individual is the fact that, without updates, sometimes the information is incorrect. One example is if a certain restaurant or business has closed - sometimes this information is not updated in certain applications; however, since location-based applications also offer a phone number, this headache is easily solved by calling ahead.

For a business, location-based applications are also resourceful. Delivery companies often use GPS applications in order to find a new location, as well as a location that may be off the beaten-path.

A negative to both is the fact that these application are only as good as the mobile device's signal; in many rural areas, cell phones are useless, which only adds to the problem of being lost.

Location-based applications are very useful; these applications either direct an individual by using a map, audibly, or both. Location-based applications allow an individual as well as an organization to promptly find or discover most anything.
