Are Credit Cards Beneficial?

Choosing a credit card can be difficult; choosing to have a credit card is something that people ponder daily.

Yes, credit cards can be useful; credit cards, when used responsibly, can help your credit score. Credit cards can help if you're ever low on cash; however, people can get into trouble because of the accessibility of credit cards.

Since there are both pros and cons to credit cards, let's discuss a few of each.

Advantages of Credit Cards

1.      A responsible repayment of credit cards helps to develop quality spending habits.
2.      Credit cards make it possible for people to make large purchases, such as expensive college textbooks.
3.      Credit cards can help with emergency medical bills.

The Disadvantages of Credit Cards

1.      Oftentimes, the interest rates are not factored into the purchase.
2.      Teenagers (18, 19, and sometimes 17) have the ability of obtaining a card; however, not always the maturity towards the responsibilities involved.
3.      Parts of the population unfortunately increase their debt and are unable to repay their acquired debt.
4.      And of course the main issue with credit cards is that the owed amounts must be paid back to the lenders.

Credit cards can be useful financial tools or a user's worst enemy that can haunt them for years to come. Keeping tabs on purchases/uses, repaying more than the monthly minimum when due, and staying current on repayment schedules are all ways to lessen the stress involved in credit card usage, and to help build a foundation for a healthy credit history.
